JOB VACANCIES

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following position within the Research Council of Zimbabwe (RCZ):

1.Class 1 Driver (full-time fixed one year contract)

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for collecting and delivering items as well as transporting persons as and when required;
• Running errands as directed;
• Plan route requirements by studying schedule or ad-hoc requests by the office;
• Prepare vehicles by conducting operator maintenance, checking and reporting issues needing attention;
• Arranging for the servicing of the RCZ vehicles; and
• Undertake any other duties as assigned by immediate superior.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Class 1 Drivers’ license (license must be more than 3 years and above);
• Defensive drivers’ license;
• Proof of having attained secondary education; and
• Must have served as a driver for at least two years with traceable references.

2.General Hand (full-time fixed one year contract)

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for maintaining the grounds;
• Cleans all areas including offices and corridors;
• Cleans toilets;
• Disposes of refuse when required;
• Plants and maintain seasonal plants;
• Mow, trim and fertilize green spaces;
• Mulch, edge and weed gardens;
• Prune and trim trees and bushes;
• Maintain all gardening equipment and machinery like lawn mowers, trimmers and leaf blowers in good working condition;
• Monitor and maintain the health of plants;
• Deal with pest problems that could damage plants;
• Keep gardens and green spaces clear of debris and litter;
• Washes all the RCZ vehicles;
• Fulfil special requests by the Council by picking up and delivering items as directed and running errands ; and
• Undertakes any other duties as assigned by immediate superior.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Proof of having attained secondary education; and
• Must have served as a Gardener or General Hand or equivalent level for at least two years
